GPS Tracking Continues to Identify Offenders

GPS Tracking continues to identify offenders with devices deployed on PACT Site Security members’ sites across the Perth metropolitan area.

On this occasion, PACT investigators were alerted to the theft of the assets at 7.32 pm on Saturday, 1/7/23, after a GPS device was installed in assets on a BGC Housing Group Terrace Homes building site in Filly Avenue, Cockburn Central.

The offenders broke into the rear of the units and stole the hot water unit and a gas cooktop, which were both still in their boxes. The assets were tracked from Cockburn Central to a private address in Thornlie, where PACT investigators liaised with the WA Police Force-Fremantle Detectives. Police executed a search warrant at the identified address and located the stolen hot water system and cooktop inside the premises.

An adult male was arrested and charged with Burglary and Stealing, with Police seizing the property, which will be returned to BGCHG.

GPS tracking technology continues to be a reliable ally, assisting PACT investigators and Police to identify persons involved in building site crime. It allows PACT investigators to identify, locate, and track individuals suspected of stealing from our member’s sites by providing real-time location data and assists Police in quickly apprehending suspects before they commit further crimes. Additionally, GPS tracking technology helps PACT investigators and Police access information about criminal networks operating around building sites, enabling them to craft targeted strategies to reduce ongoing building site crime.
