June 2019 Building and Construction Crime Statistics
June saw a total of 38 reports of burglary, stealing and damage across Perth construction sites and land development areas. Offences included Burglary x 7, Attempted Burglary x 6 and Stealing x 25 with 77% of offences occurring in the southern suburbs.
The Calleya Estate in Treeby was a major hotspot area with 7 reported incidents of water meter theft, 3 stealing reports of lintels and timber beams. 3 burglaries resulted in the theft of uninstalled hotplate, hot water system and a bathroom sink from one site, a basin from another site and 30 bags of cement from a site shed.
Hammond Heights Estate in Hammond Park had 5 reported burglaries with several other sites also targeted. Investigations are continuing into information supplied by witnesses who observed a male driving a dark Blue Ford BA/BF model utility, registration number similar to 1GRB 956, which was involved in the burglaries at 6.30am on June 27th.
In other areas Brabham had 3 reported incidents of water meter theft and a burglary where a hotplate was stolen, Ellenbrook had 1 report of electrical cable theft, theft of timber and a burglary where offenders have slept at the premises causing damage to carpets and the kitchen area. A forensic examination was completed should provide the offenders identity.
An adult male offender has been charged with theft from site in Golden Bay after investigators gathered evidence from a witness and liaised with Mandurah Police. The male used his girlfriends vehicle to remove a quantity of roofing timber from a building site on June 15th.
