October 2019 Building and Construction Industry Statistics

The month of October has seen a 30% increase in reported crime on the monthly average, this is after a 35% and 43% reduction in the previous 2 months. PACT Site Security reported a total of 44 incidents of burglary, theft and damage to police, including 10 x burglaries, 4 x attempted burglaries, 26 x stealing and 4 x damage. Reports were sporadic and recorded across 32 different suburbs with 82% of reported offences occurring in the southern suburbs. 

Although reports were sporadic, the Calleya Estate in Treeby continued to be a higher crime area with 2 burglaries and 2 stealing’s occurring in Aquamarine Parade. 2 sites had shopper doors kicked in, with no items stolen, whilst thieves stole electrical cable and durasheets from another 2 sites. In the Sienna Woods Estate, Hilbert, another site was broken into on 2 occasions with offenders stealing a hotplate and tap ware on 1 occasion and tap ware on the other. Burglaries also occurred in The Glades Estate, Byford, Greenlea Estate, Baldivis, Golden Bay Estate, Golden Bay, Ocean Hills Estate, Lakelands and a site in Bullcreek, thieves targeted door furniture, floor tiles and bathroom tapware.     

Significant theft from sites included 63 sheets of roof sheeting stolen from a site in Paradiso Estate, Baldivis, an installed garage door motor, brackets and remote stolen from a site in Sienna Springs Estate, Hilbert, electrical wiring cut from walls and ceilings on a site in Iluma Estate, Bennett Springs, an installed solar inverter stolen from a site in Success and pavers, which had been laid on a driveway, stolen in Ridgewood . 

Installed hot water units were stolen from sites in Thornlie, Coogee, Craigie and Aveley       

After an ongoing investigation into damage offences in Clarkson 3 juveniles have been referred to the Juvenile Justice Team after extensive damage was caused on a site in Celebration Boulevard. Pact Site Security investigators liaised with the Clarkson police who were provided with CCTV footage and witness information. Inquiries with local schools eventually identified the juveniles who were as young as 13 years.  

Reported incidents of scrap metals theft was low in October with reports of stolen electrical cable from sites in Bennett Springs, Byford and Treeby and a single report of a stolen water meter in Byford.
